ending may

Current mood:crunk
starboy's crawling.
jones is pumping.
boo's hitting pitched balls.
wolfie and binkins are off to the oregon coast.
hand-me-downs are EVERYWHERE!
wolfie's in adult-sized clothes.
binkins is in size 5 summer wear.
jones is in size 5, and FINALLY we have some (and 6, 7, and a handfull of 8!)
boo's back in 2T, because we finally have some of them too.  we never did find our girls 2T clothes.  instead we were blessed with a new batch of them!  it's nice to see her wearing clothes that fit again.  she's cute.  not that she wasn't cute in size 4T... no, she was cute then too.
and starboy?  well, i didn't change his size.  i was too overwhelmed with bigger clothes.  i think he's fitting his 6mo+ clothes... but i do think he could move up to the 12mo. without a hitch.
i need to loose a size or two.  i lost quite a bit of weight with my wisdom tooth.  i thought it was a heavy tooth, but it must've had something to do with my eating patterns (or lack of eating) because i didn't get the tooth back, yet i've gained the weight back and my belly looks fat again.  :(  bummer.
we've got the house about half scraped and we're getting ready to paint it.
starboy eats all his orange veggies and now grean beans.  he'll start peas this next week.
boo eats what she wants.  she's a picky eater.  she likes fruit and snacks the very best.
jones eats everything that binkins doesn't.
binkins eats everything that jones doesn't.
(they're kinda like jack sprat and his wife, when it comes to licking their platter clean.)
wolfie eats everything and never gripes about any of it!
i made tunafish sandwiches today with celery, green peppers, dill pickles, and apples diced in it.  mmmmmm.mmmmmmmm.  they were GOOD!
wolfie had a track and field meet this month.  she threw the softball, and ran 100 and 200 meters.  she placed third in the softball throw and is able to go to state to compete on july 10.  she threw her ball 92 feet and 6 1/2 inches.  i was impressed since she hasn't played ball since 2nd grade and even then, they didn't teach her how to throw!  (i did.  :)  )  she didn't place in either running event.
wolfie also was the local christian radio station's weather kid.  she was taped and aired on the radio!  that was exciting and she did awesome.  thew a little personality in for the fun of it.  :)  because she's like that!
ok, so i think that'll wrap may up for ya...  tomorrow's starboy's 7 mo. birthday.  he's more than 1/2 year old!  wow.

other MAY news... scattered events

May 23, 2010

other MAY news

Current mood:frisky
full-day kindergarden with scattered weeks.  either m-w-f, then tu-th.  m-w-f, with every other f off.  or m-w-f, with every other m off.
pneumonia.  left lobe that's small because the heart's in the way.  it has a name that has something to do with toungue shaped.
mastitis.  left one.  ouch.  better now.
blown out knee.  left one.  alternative repair methods.  prolotherapy is at the top of our list as well as a healthy diet.  the diet may be more expensive in the short term, but i don't see it being a more expensive cost compared to surgery.
raspberries and noticing finger and hand movement.  both sides.  cute as ever.
i'm not giving any names to make this blog a little funner to read.

MAY-b it's time

May 22, 2010

MAY-b it's time

Current mood:breezy
..MAY..-b I’ll blog…
I found my usb chord for my camera, so that made me happy.  Now I have some may pictures in 2010.
wolfie finished school.  Mostly.  I’ll call it a wrap.  She still has two science lessons/day and we need to go check a book out at the library… but it’s less than 30 min./day of school, so that’s pretty much like none at all!
I know that every update-blog I write I say this, so I’ll just say it again:  jones is really working on annunciating his words.  He says his “r”s.  he says his “j”s.  and really, I can’t think of any of those sounds that he struggles with anymore.  There probably are some though.  And he still messes up some words royally.  Such as suburban.  It’s basurvan to him.  I can’t think of any others right now though.
boo has finally (really now) mastered her pee muscle.  So that is half-good news.
binkins is growing up.  We found out some kindergarden news.
starboy is mostly there.  Where?  Well, wherever he’s going.  He is mobile.  In bed he no longer just lays there.  He rolls.  And rolls.  And kicks.  So, he’s not being swaddled as much.  And I’ve had to take out all his blankets and pillows.  And out of bed, he sits, lays, rolls, scoots, and is as close to crawling without crawling as you can get.  In that I mean, he can do it… he just usually can’t.  ???  yeah, weird, but true.  starboy’s eating rice, oatmeal, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, and was introduces to green beans today.  He’s loved everything… but I should’ve videotaped his reaction to the green beans.  Um, yeah.  He doesn’t like them (yet).  He’s so cute.  I just love that boy.
I love the others too.  They’re all great.  We’re spending less time on the computer (kinda because of computer problems, but kinda because I don’t want to waste my time) and more time together.  Since wolfie and binkins are heading off in the fall, I’m just feeling this huge urge to make lots of family time.

what can happen in just 5 minutes:

May 4, 2010

in about five minutes, the following happened:

Current mood:contemplative
i looked at the clock.
i realized starboy was going to need to eat soon.
i realized that i hadn't started dinner yet.
i got out some chicken.
i got out a frying pan.
i turned on the stove.
i put oil in the pan.
the phone rang.
i answered it.
it was the guy who bought our jeep.  he was wondering if we'd received the title yet.  i told him we hadn't, but i hadn't checked the mail.
i ran out to the mailbox.
i found a letter from our lender.
i opened the letter and told him that it said, "the state you reside in has an electronic title..."
i told him that i would call the lender.
i hung up.
i dialed the lender.
i placed the frozen chicken in the HOT oil.
oil splattered and sizzled.
i quickly remove the chicken from the HOT oil.
with the chicken in one hand, i removed the hot oil and pan from the stove with the other.
i then dropped the chicken in the hot oil so that i'd have two hands.
the hot oil splattered and sizzled.
i carried the pan away from the stove further.
i sat on the phone and listened to them ask me if i wanted to speak english or spanish (for about the fifth time).
i pushed 1.
i grabbed another piece of chicken and put it in the pan i was holding.
the oil splattered and sizzled.
i almost dropped the pan.
fire started (out of no where) on the stovetop.
i panicked a little.
i looked for a place to set the hot pan.
i tried to whip out my third hand.
the phone kept repeating the same unapplicable automated choices.
the fire went out, on the stove.
wolfie opened the back door (because we hate the smoke smell in our house.  she was anticipating it.  it wasn't smokey.)
i dialed my ssn into the phone.
i grabbed the third piece of chicken.
i placed it on the other two, in the skillet.
i dialed my ssn into the phone.
i growled at the phone's response to the repeated unappicable automation.
i dialed my ssn into the phone.
i walked to the sink, slipping lightly on the slippery floor.
i opened the window to let a breeze in.
i turned the stove off.
i wiped the skillet off.
i set the skillet back on the stove.
i talked with the lady on the phone.
i called back the guy who bought our jeep.
i sighed.
i turned back on the stove.
i wiped up the splattered oil on the counter, floor, and stove.
i took starboy and sat down to feed the sweet babe.

i feel like there was some more to that recaptured time...

multi-tasking?  oh yes.  my life?  oh yes.  love it?  most of the time!

april's up in 2010

May 1, 2010
*pictures added 2/9/12

april's up

Current mood:sick
we had quite a month.  but really nothin' big.  in fact, i can't really think of anything.  i lost my usb cord, so i wasn't able to take any pictures on my camera to record the month of april in 2010 even happening.  i think it did though.
we painted the girls' room finally.
i should take some pictures of that now that i found the cord.  it turned out nice.  but it's always messy.
we moved starboy out of our room.  we got a racecar bed for jones from one of our friends, so otter pop constructed the two cribs into a bunkbed/bunkstorage.  starboy is now sleeping in the bed part of that.  i think he's going to be a heavy sleeper like jones.  that's nice.
starboy is now eating rice, oatmeal, and carrots.  he likes carrots the best.
oh, i know something that happened in april.  my sister-in-law, "nicole", (some of you might know her) had a birthday.  and boy we celebrated!!!  we were planning on having her and her family (my brother -her husband, and my niece -their child) over for a birthday dinner the day after her big day.  ---she's 25 now, btw---  well, my kids got all crouped up that night and were having huge coughing fits.  i ended up taking boo to the dr. on friday morning.  "trent" and "nicole" didn't want to expose little "ila", so they didn't come over.  however, i had already made her a cake... (yeah, sucks we didn't have the camera) so we ate it too.  and then we thought they'd make it over the next week, so i made another... but they didn't make it.  or maybe the cake just looked too good.  i can't remember the truth of that cake.  but we ate it too.  and THEN, right before they planned on leaving to go back to twin falls, i told her that i REALLY wanted her to taste this cake, and i was willing to just make it and they could take it.  so i bought all the items for it (plus double, because otter pop really didn't want me to give away a whole cake without him getting ANY), and then got a call from her saying that she wasn't "needing" cake right now.  (she's trying to loose baby weight)
so...  i made two more cakes.  and we ate them as well.
i think that every time i make a cake from now on, jones is going to pipe in about it being for aunt nicole's birthday.  :)  he LOVES aunt nicole's birthday cake!!!!!
here's the recipe:

OREO CAKE
make a devil's food cake (from the box) in two 8" or 9" pans.
mix 8oz cream cheese with 1/2 c. sugar.  fold in 2 cups whipped cream and 24 broken up oreos.
slab that good stuff inbetween the two round cakes.
melt 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate with 1/2 stick of butter.  pour that over the top.
chill.
eat.
 cream cheese and cool whip

add candy (mini reece's pb cups pictured here)

here's where you add the dime, if it's a birthday cake.

slab the "white stuff" on top of one of the cakes.  smear it around good.

place the other cake on top.  i haven't decided whether you should place it up-side-down, or right-side-up...

don't press the top down so hard that it cracks up like i did.

melt the chocolate with butter...

pour it slowly in top and spread it around.

concentrate.

this is why the recipe calls for oreo's... see, it's a giant oreo!!!

now, i've made some variations of the recipe.  (you can do that easily when you make, what, six? cakes in a month).
1.  nicole's favorite candy is reeces peanut butter cups, so that's how we made it.  freeze the cups so that they break instead of mush though.
2.  twix's are good too.  especially with some carmel drizzled over the chocolate topping.
3.  you can decrease the sugar with the cream cheese.  in fact, the last time i made it, i just omitted it altogether.  it was fine!
4.  also, the last time, in the cake i put bananas when it called for oil.  that was an awesome taste substitute, especially with the peanut butter!
5.  and lastly, the last time, i slabbed half of the goop in the middle, but slabbed the other half on top.  it made it easier to eat, but the chocolate couldn't absorb, so instead of just covering the top of the cake with tiny drips down the side, a lot of it drizzled down the side and left puddles of hard chocolate on the serving plate.

okie doke.  so that was a sweet april.  i'm glad i remembered some of it for you.  ;)
